About the Brand
My name is Sheila Mitchell and I am the CEO and Head Patissier of Rose Gold Pastries. I
began baking at 13 years old as my parents and family have always loved sweets. Some of
my earliest memories were from late Saturday mornings as a kid. We had a big family so grocery shopping for
my mom would take a while. After cartoons and cereal, my big brother Steven (whom we call Weeky) would bake
cookies for us while my mom was gone. I would watch him put ingredients together trying to absorb his technique
and sometimes he would allow me to do the fork crisscross on top of the peanut butter cookies, which were my favorite.
As Weeky grew older and wasn't around as much, I took over the baking in the kitchen using the recipes and techniques I had seen him use for all those years prior.
With me being the youngest kid, it was a great balance between my mom and I because she was a very good cook, but not interested in baking. I loved making desserts but had no interest in cooking dinner. (Don't worry, I grew out of that)
Eventually, I began to improve upon the cookbook recipes by adding my own touches here and there.
As my skills developed, creating new desserts had come to feel natural to me. The true joy of
my life was watching friends and family enjoy my holiday desserts. I didn't commit to it full time early on because
I didn't see a way to make "Real money," selling cookies. So I kept my talent in a small box marked hobby. The more that people requested my desserts, the more I had to structure this hobby into a side business. It began to build a side stream of
business with clientele throughout my main job in sales, community's parks, barber shops, and recreation centers.
After hitting some of life’s curves, I had to take personal inventory of myself and make a decision about what I was going to do with the rest of my life.
I decided that the only thing that I could imagine being happy about doing every day was baking. After making that decision, I went to culinary school which stoked the fire of my passion even more. There I learned more about the science of baking. So now, I am growing my company here in Los Angeles into a global brand that will send my delicious treats to anyone who desires them, anywhere in the world.
With that being said, I present to you Rose Gold Pastries, a proud
black-owned pastry company specializing in high quality desserts and creating new happy memories.
